In Remembrance – 9/11
To me, today is a day of remembrance to think of all whom were tragically lost, including a member of our company, traveling on business when Flight 11 hit the North Tower. Now, is also the time to celebrate the heroism which still existed in the face of such senseless evil and devastation.
Forever emblazoned in my mind is this photograph:
Upon hearing of the crisis, Franciscan Priest Father Mychal Judge had gone to the scene to offer his assistance, and pray with the wounded. It was there, in the lobby of the North Tower he was struck by falling debris, and killed.
In a pointed gesture of honor, dignity, and unity he was carried by fellow firefighters to St. Peter’s Church, where they placed his body before the altar
His is believed to be the first recorded death of 9/11.
